Regional Transportation, Ecosystem, & Land Use Integration Plan

State: Illinois

Applicant: Tri-County Regional Planning Commission

Grant Amount: $109,477

Period of Performance: 24 months

Summary: This project aims to develop a Regional Transportation, Ecosystem, and Land Use Integration Plan to combine various State, local, and NGO plans as well as integrate transportation, ecosystem, and land use planning throughout the region. The plan will serve as a comprehensive, integrated guide for land use, transportation, ecosystem and infrastructure that establishes and prioritizes opportunities for improvement. The plan will assist the region's units of government in shaping the development landscape, and assist the private sector in making development decisions over the coming decades.

Project Status: The Tri-County Regional Planning Commission signed its contract with FHWA and held its official kick off meeting. As of November 2008, the Tri-County Regional Planning Commission met the following milestones:

  • Regional kickoff meeting to publicly announce the plan
  • Establishment of five themes critical to the region's future
  • Creation of a regional steering committee and local county committees
  • GIS analysis of transportation, land use, and environmental data
  • Updated 2010-2035 Long Range Transportation Plan will be based on this Eco-Logical project
