Refers to properties that meet the National Park Service Criteria for eligibility for listing on the National Register of Historic Places.
Environmental Assessment (23 CRF 771.119)
A process and document prepared pursuant to the NEPA for actions in which the significance of the environmental impact is not clearly established. If it is determined during the EA process that a project will have no significant impact on the quality of the environment, a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) is issued. If the project results in significant impacts, then an EIS is required.
Environmental Impact Statement (23 CFR 771.123 and 771.125)
A process and document prepared pursuant to the NEPA for projects in which it is known that the action will have a significant effect on the environment. An EIS is a detailed statement required by NEPA for major federal actions significantly affecting the human environment.
Extraordinary Magnitude
A reference to exceedingly high costs or other objectionable factors associated with a project alternative, extraordinary magnitude characterizes the impacts to Section 4(f) or non-Section 4(f) properties as beyond the boundaries of feasible and prudent.
